The US Energy Information Administration’s Short-Term Energy Outlook provides regularly updated forecasts for major energy markets. It covers crude oil and petroleum products, natural gas, coal, electricity, renewable energy, emissions and selected macroeconomic assumptions.

The forecast combines historical data with models of production, consumption, trade, inventories, prices and weather-sensitive demand. Monthly and quarterly tables allow comparison of recent observations with projected values.

Energy markets contain several recurring influences, including seasonal heating and cooling demand, refinery maintenance, agricultural activity and inventory cycles. These patterns interact with production decisions, infrastructure constraints and unexpected disruptions.

The Outlook is revised as new data and assumptions become available. Its projections are not fixed periodic predictions, and uncertainty can be substantial when geopolitical events, extreme weather or rapid changes in supply affect markets.
