The World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report is issued monthly by the United States Department of Agriculture. It provides forecasts of supply, use and trade for major US and global agricultural commodities.
Coverage includes wheat, rice, coarse grains, oilseeds, cotton, sugar and livestock products. Tables report variables such as beginning stocks, production, imports, domestic consumption, exports and ending stocks for current and forecast marketing years.
Agricultural markets are strongly influenced by planting and harvesting calendars, weather, yields and biological production lags. Monthly revisions incorporate new crop reports, trade information and conditions in major producing countries.
WASDE estimates are forecasts assembled through an interagency process and are revised as evidence changes. Comparisons through time should distinguish crop years from calendar years and account for changes in definitions, geographic coverage and measurement.
