The World Bank Commodity Markets portal publishes the Commodity Markets Outlook, historical price data, forecasts and research on energy, metals, minerals, agriculture, fertilisers and precious metals. Its monthly price database is commonly known as the Pink Sheet.

The Outlook examines recent price movements and the supply-and-demand conditions behind them. It also assesses risks arising from economic growth, trade, weather, conflict, technological change and policy developments.

Historical series can be used to compare commodity groups across multiple decades. The data show that commodities differ substantially in volatility, storage characteristics, production lags and sensitivity to global economic activity.

Forecasts are conditional projections rather than recurring cycles. They depend on assumptions about growth, production, inventories and policy, and should be evaluated against later observations and revised information.
