I will here put forward some of my conclusions about the WSM (Wave Structure of Matter). The principle as recognised by many who have discussed these ideas is that there is one universal field that is beneath all the physics that we know. We may choose to call this aether or many other things but it is the medium that supports all of physics. But wasn't the aether disproved by the Michelson-Morley experiment getting a null result. No it was not. Once it is understood that matter is standing waves in the aether just as light is travelling waves in the aether, then the effects of light propagation in the direction of travel and across the direction of travel are exactly the same for matter because ir is the same stuff. Planck, Einstein, Dirac and others understood this and continued to believe in the idea of an aether.

Different people have different ideas of what the aether is. It may be a tensile medium or it may flow or it may be made up of particles that bounce about. Funny, that sounds like solid, liquid and gas. So it is important to state which of these our ideas are based on. Because light can be polarised I prefer to think of it as transverse waves and favour a tensile medium. But LaFreniere showed that you can get polarised waves without a tensile medium.

My plan for the aether.

1. It is a tensile medium so that any distortion tries to undo, itself because it makes a force to do that.

2. The standard wave equation as used in Maxwell's equations is the basis and will therefore work for all electromagnetic waves.

3. This will be a surprise - space is Euclidean, and time is absolute. Have I gone mad? Do I not know about GR? I will explain how WSM can explain GR in Euclidean space and absolute time. I consider this a major part of the way forward and will explain the details later.

4. The wave equation is linear. This explains why light can travel across the Universe in every direction and through every point without getting in its own way. It is well known that linear equations can be combined and that multiple waves do not interact. This is taught as fundamental physics.

5. Except that it is wrong. When transverse waves travel through each other they do interact although that interaction is extremely small unless the waves have very high amplitude. For a very long time I was stating that the fundamental equation had to be non-linear. And it might be. But you can get interaction with a linear equation with transverse waves. That is because displacements in the medium do vector addition and as the waves go back to their original position they are working on a different part of the aether.

6. When trying to model particles in these conditions, it is very easy to get equations that cause the aether to fold over itself which is rather untidy and probably unphysical. So it may be that another condition is required and that is that the aether is incompressible. An alternative is that compressing it is very difficult. I remember people saying that Maxwell's equations were originally written in quaternions and later converted to vector form as we know them. Some claim that this lost a part of the meaning. That part may related to this aspect of things.

7. I am possibly on my own here, but I do not believe that any solution can be found without recognising the role of harmonics theory in the various frequencies floating about in the Universe. The second thing that I will follow up with is details of harmonics theory understanding of particles, isotopes and such. The little waves ride on the bigger waves and so on all the way up, although the direction of causes is all the way down.

8. The universe does not work from the bottom up but from the top down. That is why string theory was always doomed to fail and Harmonics theory has so many successes.

Those that have also tried to work with these concepts may well have very many different ways of looking at things. Good, let us try multiple different ways and see what works.

Have fun

Ray
