Fibonacci sequence

The Fibonacci sequence is an integer sequence in which each term after the first two is the sum of the two preceding terms. A common starting convention is 0, 1, producing 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and so on.
The sequence is named after Leonardo of Pisa, known as Fibonacci, who described it in a thirteenth-century problem about idealised rabbit population growth. Related sequences were known earlier in Indian mathematics.
Ratios of successive Fibonacci numbers approach the golden ratio as the sequence progresses. The numbers also have many identities involving sums, divisibility, matrices, and generating functions.
Fibonacci numbers appear in combinatorics, number theory, algorithms, branching patterns, phyllotaxis models, and mathematical descriptions of recursive growth.
