Important scope note: This scan covers only the 8 volumes currently loaded in this project (1950–1957). You mentioned having 46 volumes in total — this is therefore a partial pass. The names below are the ones with substantive, described contributions in the text (not just membership lists, donor rolls, or passing index mentions). Many hundreds of additional names appear only in Foundation membership lists and are excluded here as not being "contributors" in the research sense.
Weather & Climate Cycles
Sir David Brunt (England) — Harmonic analysis of 34+ weather rhythms across twelve European cities (1927 study); cross-validated against Beveridge's price cycles. (See separate document on Brunt.)
E. Brückner (Austria) — Named the ~35-year "Brückner cycle" in European weather (1891 book), building on an observation first recorded by Sir Francis Bacon roughly three centuries earlier.
Sir William Beveridge — Landmark harmonic analysis of European wheat prices and rainfall, 1500–1869, drawing on data from nearly fifty locations across six regions. His cycle catalogue was directly compared against Brunt's in the Foundation's Figure 57 (Dec. 1953 report).
H. H. Clayton — Found a 7.54-year cycle in barometric pressure spanning from northern Siberia/Iceland to tropical Calcutta; also worked on sunspot correlations.
H. P. Gillette — Drought-based climatic rhythm research; identified a 7.47-year basic climatic cycle from tree growth, lake varves, and rock laminae studies.
C. E. P. Brooks — Identified a 66-year cycle in Nile flood levels.
H. J. de Boer — Tree-ring measurements and weather fluctuations in Java, A.D. 1514 onward; researched long-period barometric pressure cycles at Batavia.
Thor N. V. Karlstrom — Late Pleistocene/Recent glacial chronology of south-central Alaska; connected glacial advance cycles to long-term climate rhythms.
C. S. Jarvis — Flood-stage records of the River Nile.
Sunspot & Solar Research
C. N. Anderson — Sunspot cycle representation and analysis (Bell System Technical Journal); found a ~22.3-year dominant cycle in sunspots with alternate cycles reversed.
Dinsmore Alter — Identified an 8.1-year cycle in sunspot numbers.
Harlan True Stetson — Author of Sunspots in Action; solar-terrestrial relationship research.
A. L. Tchijevsky (Russia) — Advanced the hypothesis of an ~11-year cycle in human excitability (dating back to ~500 B.C.) associated with the 11-year sunspot cycle. His work was translated and condensed for the Foundation by Vladimir P. de Smitt.
D. Justin Shove — Continuous sunspot maxima record from 300 B.C. to date (published in the Journal of the British Astronomical Association), used to test Tchijevsky's hypotheses.
Tree-Ring & Dendrochronological Research
A. E. Douglass — Found an 8.2-year cycle in tree-ring thickness at Cibecue, Arizona (though not consistently across tree rings generally); foundational dendrochronology work.
H. S. Gladwin — Tree-ring width measurements, Lukachukai district of Arizona, 54 B.C.–1929 A.D.
C. G. Abbot — Cycles in tree-ring widths (Foundation Reprint No. 34); also periodicities in solar constant measures.

Charles Elton — Foundational work on wild animal population fluctuations and epidemic disease among wild animals (Journal of Animal Ecology).
L. W. Wing — Cyclic trends in Arctic seasons; 8.05-year cycle in European partridge bag counts in Czechoslovakia; 7.95-year cycle in lynx abundance.
Economic & Business Cycles
N. D. Kondratieff — The long-wave (~54-year) economic cycle bearing his name; "Die langen Wellen der Konjunktur."
Clément Juglar — Early identification of a shorter-term business/credit cycle.
W. Stanley Jevons — Early quantitative approach to economic and sunspot-correlated cycles.
Samuel Benner — 19th-century pig iron price cycle forecasting ("Benner's Prophecies of Future Ups and Downs in Prices") — the Foundation tracked his forecast accuracy for over 60 years as an ongoing case study, and reported it eventually broke down.
F. A. Pearson — Extensive work on commodity price cycles (wheat, cattle, cotton) at Cornell.
W. I. Myers — Co-researcher with Pearson on price/supply/demand cycles in cattle.
Carlos Garcia-Mata and Felix Shaffner — Solar-economic relationship research.
History, Sociology & War Cycles
Raymond H. Wheeler — Major figure: Professor of Psychology (Univ. of Kansas), later Chief of Staff at the Climate Research Division, Weather Science Foundation. Compiled the Foundation's Basic Data Bulletin No. 1 — an index of international and civil war intensity from 599 B.C. to 1943 A.D. — and argued for a relationship between climate and human conflict, including a proposed ~510-year climatic cycle (discovered 1943) and cycles of ~142, ~57, ~22⅕, and ~11⅕ years in international conflict. His Presidential Address to the Kansas Academy of Science ("The Effect of Climate on Human Behavior in History," 1943) was reprinted by the Foundation as Reprint No. 35.
Sir W. M. Flinders Petrie — The Revolutions of Civilization (1911) — an early study of ~1500-year cultural cycles, cited by the Foundation as pioneering work, though later correspondents in the magazine questioned his dating of Mesoamerican cultural chronology.
William Playfair — Publishing in London in 1805, An Inquiry into the Permanent Causes of the Decline and Fall of Powerful and Wealthy Nations — flagged in the magazine's letters section as an important predecessor to Petrie's work, roughly a century earlier, and largely forgotten even by Foundation readers at the time.
Ellsworth Huntington (Yale) — Prolific climate-and-civilization theorist; Mainsprings of Civilization, Season of Birth; also researched seasonal patterns in library circulation/intellectual activity across latitudes.
Suggested Next Steps
A few observations that might help focus your search across the remaining 38 volumes:
- Playfair and Brückner stand out as the most "forgotten" figures with genuinely standalone stories — both got only brief treatment even in their own era.
- Raymond Wheeler has by far the most developed body of work of anyone found so far (aside from Dewey himself) and would support a full standalone document, similar to the Brunt piece.
- Several names (Anderson, Clayton, Gillette, Beveridge) show up so often in relation to each other that a single comparative document — "the 8-year cycle cluster" or "the 7.5-year cycle convergence" — might be more interesting for your forum than person-by-person entries.
- If you can tell me which additional volumes you're planning to add next, I can prioritize scanning those first once they're loaded, rather than doing a flat pass.
NOTE from Ray Tomes. I am using Claude to look at old cycles magazines and get interesting things from them\. Unfortunately i cannot hold all the Issues of Cycles at once. o this and some other reports will be 1950 to 1957 only. But the FSC was a vibrant machine at this time.
