SSOE Group is hiring a mid-to-upper level Piping Designer to lead chemical process piping design work in the Scottsdale, AZ office. The role leads design teams on single- or multi-discipline projects, prepares construction packages, reviews shop drawings, and supports construction activities while applying industry best practices and company AI tools.

Role

SSOE seeks a mid-to-upper level Piping Designer with chemical process piping experience to work as a design lead on single-discipline or multi-discipline engineering project teams in the Scottsdale, AZ office.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as design lead and coordinate/direct the work of other designers on projects
• Read P&IDs and transfer necessary data to equipment and piping design using standard techniques and best practices
• Check completed drawings, review equipment shop drawings for accuracy and completeness
• Prepare construction packages, addendums, and bulletins
• Recognize and initiate project change orders and provide construction support as requested
• Attend and present design details in internal and external design team meetings
• Provide some external customer contact and may write portions of specifications and assist with design and construction cost estimates
• May require travel to job sites

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree desired but not necessary
• At least 15 years of piping design experience
• Knowledge of process chemical, steam/condensate and utility piping system best practices
• Proficiency with AutoCad Plant3D and Revit
• Knowledge of Navisworks and working with laser scan data
• Able to work independently and coordinate within small teams; desire to lead and take responsibility
• Good written and oral communication skills

• Salary range: $95,000 - $120,000 per year (depending on location, education, experience, and related certifications)

Position is for SSOE’s Scottsdale, AZ office. Remote work is not specified in the job description.
