Hans Jenny (1904-1972)

Hans Jenny was a medical doctor who made a study of the forms created by vibrations and oscillations in fluids and powders. He also examined the possible health benefits of vibrations with Dr Guy Manners. The name that Jenny gave this field of study was Cymatics. Previously there had been some study of the effects of vibration by Chladni and by Keely, but Jenny took the study into many new places, finding forms that may be created by simple sounds that amaze and surprise most people. It is rather disappointing that his results are still so little known, as when the discovery of oscillons was made more recently, no mention was made of Jenny or Cymatics.
