the BGMI index - vs - Video 4

For discussion of how to use the Cycles Research Institute' own Cycles Analysis & Time Series software.

the BGMI index - vs - Video 4

Here then are my observations resulting from applying
the " Tutorial Video # 4 " to Nick Laird's BGMI data Set
http://www.bgmi.us/

The linear price picture is =

The Log price picture is =

Using the Speclog results depicted in

the following pictures event

But my Computer CRASHES any time I use CATS, arbitrary of the way I
Invoke the CATS application and the way selected to Shut Down the CATS application.

Hi Steve

Just a couple of notes:

1. The periods with less than 2 cycles in them cannot have Bartels values calculated, so the 0 does not mean that they are significant.

2. The third column of the speclog.csv file is the date/time of maximum in days from year dot. If you divide by 365.2425 you will get the year and decimal year of maxima.

3. To shut down CATS type ctrl-C.

4. If you are having crashes, please supply details for our IT man to check it out. Easiest way is to supply any files used (if not in supplied CATS system) and the log file of your run along with explanation of what happened.

Hi Ray,

with respect to
" 1. The periods with less than 2 cycles in them cannot have Bartels values calculated, so the 0 does not mean that they are significant.
"

Please specify Algorithm for computation of Bartels ( statistical ) Scores, and
also Identify why the above Quote is the case

Steve

See the paper http://www.cyclesresearchinstitute.org/ ... bartel.pdf which describes the calculations for Bartel's test.

In essence it takes each individual cycle period and determines the phase and amplitude of the cycle during that cycle. A scatter plot of all of the phases and amplitudes of the cycles is then tested to see if it could have a mean of zero (i.e there is no real cycle).

If you don't have two full cycles then there is only one point in the scatter diagram, so no test is possible.
